The Most Fun. Ever.

Well, except the part when Hubba-hubba had to carry the practically comatose Mr. P for a half-hour. That part was not so fun for him.

But the rest of the night?

Great.

What are you talking about, Gina? I know you are asking this, because I am being all mysterious. On purpose. Just to annoy you. Because I'm annoying like that.

Anyhoo...

A couple of weeks ago I get this invitation to Disneyland and a special party they are having for OC-based mombloggers.

After deciding that it is indeed a for-real invitation, it takes me all of two seconds to respond.

My friends, my family and I were wined and dined Disney-style. And I liked it. Well, actually I was soda-ed and dined, but that just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it?

They had a lovely presentation at the Grand Californian (which also happens to be the place we spent our honeymoon!) about all of the very cool and special holiday foods at Disneyland, as well as their master pastry chef explaining how to make a proper gingerbread house.

As he was demonstrating, all I could think was, how come my icing never comes out like that? Mine is all dribs and drabs, with the occasional big splootch. His? Perfect. Huh. Well, I guess that is what a fancy cooking school will do for you.

Then they explained about their PhotoPass feature, which was kind of cool. Too bad I had alreay ordered my cards, I might have done one from the site.

All in all, it was a night that was tailored for plenty of fun for the kids, from cookie decorating to visits from Goofy, Belle, and Minnie, crafts, a kid-friendly buffet, video games, and tons of other stuff I'm forgetting.

Then it was on to Disneyland for viewing of their lovely holiday fireworks show, which Mr. P watched with his mouth mostly agape. And it was his first "real" fireworks show, as he is rarely up past 8pm. On the 4th of July, we are at Auntie's house. Which, as nice as it is, does not have a big fireworks extravaganza in the sky. Somehow, Safe n' Sane fireworks up on a stepladder just do not have the same appeal.

Then came the "snowfall" which Mr. P was disappointed to find was actually a type of sudsy-foamy material. But dude, it looked cool.

We were then given the opportunity to view the Fantasmic show, and that is where we should have just cut our losses. We were all tired, as it was a Friday night and everyone but me had been to work and school during the day. But we made the fateful decision to stay.

Thus, we found ourselves having to wake Mr. P up from a nap on the concrete in order for him to foggily stare at what is already a pretty mind-bending show. I can't imagine what kind of impression it made on his sleep-deprived little brain. Then came the slog back to the car, which is less fun than it sounds.

But all in all, we had a fantastic evening.

Now, did I sell myself out for free tickets to Disneyland and some free food?

You betcha!

And I'd do it again, too!

Maybe we could make a trade - you send Mr. P. up here for some REAL snow, and I'll send my kids to you for Disneyland! :-)
