Music Monday (cough, cough)

After almost a month of hacking up crap out of my lungs, I decided to go to the doctor. I didn't want to, but Hubba-hubba and my sister were clucking incessantly at me, so I went.

Freaking waste of time. "Your lungs are crystal clear!" she chirped. Oh really, then where the heck is all this green stuff coming from? She was shocked, shocked to learn I hadn't been treating the cough. I asked her, with what? An expectorant, when I am already totally expectorating? So that I can cough five hours a day instead of three? And it has been proven that cough supprressants don't work. She tsked at me disapprovingly.

Well, she said, the stuff has to be coming from somewhere. Have I experienced any heartburn, or acid reflux? Not at all, was the reply. I have never had heartburn in my life. Well, she was going to prescribe me an antacid-y drug anyway. Uh, well, you can prescribe it to me, but it doesn't mean I'm going to take it. Oh, and why not just have me take a chest X-ray, just to be safe. Lady, you just told me that without a doubt in your mind that I do not have either pneumonia or bronchitis, so what exactly would be the point of irradiating myself?

I went home, getting neither the unnecessary drug or the unecessary X-ray. A waste of an hour and fifteen bucks.

So I came home and listened to this song, and it made me feel better. This video is crazy/kewl/eerie but I love it. I'm not sure I've ever seen a video quite like it, and I've seen a LOT of videos. And the song is totally faboo, in a very retro-80's way.

You mean you don't want to start glowing at night? I think that sometimes doctors feel they need to give you some sort of treatment so that you can feel like you copay was not wasted. I hope that your cough goes away soon!

When I have a cough, I give up all dairy products for a few days, and eat tons of garlic. Well, maybe not LITERALLLY tons, but at least four or five cloves every day. Preferably raw, or very lightly roasted. Haven't been to a doctor for twenty years, now.

I love mucinex. Really helps the coughing. Yes, it's an expecotrant and you're already coughing up stuff, but it loosens it up so well that it really helps. REALLY helps. As a matter of fact, I've gone from coughing up crap to not coughing at all when I use it. Which isn't what I expected at all. I would try it. But not the 'D'. Just the regular version.

Just one acronym: TMI!

Hope you're not coughing up bits of your lungs.

I hope you feel better. I ended up having to go on antibiotics for mine. My glands in my neck are all swollen so I must have an infection somewhere.

Sorry you're sick! That video was way cool.

I'm with you about going to the dr. If I feel like I'm dying I'll go, otherwise, there are a lOT of remedies out there that can be done without a co-pay ;)

Mmmm Phlem!

Glad you went to the Dr, but maybe, just maybe you might want to do the chest xray. Just maybe!

**ducking**

I'm currently trying to get my mom to go back on the Musinex even though she is actively coughing up the good stuff. It still helps.

**ok really ducking now***
