Bring 'em On

Why yes, hello, I am extremely cranky.

Be glad you are on the other side of the computer.

I think though, that I am getting sick. But really, we have been sick more this year than any year EVER and it is beginning to get to me.

It truly doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I am older. I have no problem with getting older. It's fairly inevitable anyway, so there is no point in getting pissy about it.

I find that the older I get, the less patient I am with bullshit. I have never been one to ignore it, but additional years seem to make me want to screech and point it out.

I am also more confident than ever, which is saying a lot.

I've always had a confidence streak a mile wide. For no good reason, really. It has served me well in the past, although I wonder if aging will simply make me delusional about it.

If there is one thing I have learned in my many years here on earth that has always stood me in good stead is that if you don't have confidence, FAKE IT. Fake it until it hurts. Fake it long and hard enough, and soon you'll begin to believe it.

I did.

Yeah baby! Faking it makes others believe it, treat you like it and then you have it.

Confidence and stuff like I mean. Not the, ahem, that.

You know what I mean...

I haven't been sick at all yet this year (knock wood). I've been drinking those DanActive Immunity yogurt drinks every day for several months now, and whether it's a placebo effect or it actually works, I don't know. At least I'm getting more calcium either way!
See I don't even have age to blame for the amount of times I'm sick. Elliot gets all the blame instead..

As long as you are aware of your "older" (which pretty young) tendencies, they won't run away with/from you. Especially as your health improves. :)

We have been sick more this year than ever in the past, too. I am a bit older than you, but I don't think that's it. I think it's just a banner year for germs.

Oh, Gina, I had a sicko year a couple years ago. No matter what we did, we just kept passing crap around. I took vitamins, washed hands like a freaking surgeon, and whatever anyone had, we ended up getting. Be tough! Sometimes, it's just your turn.

I lost my bullshit tolerance when I was in my 20s, and it's been all downhill (for bullshitters) ever since.

Now stop with the cranky! ;-) I've managed to avoid a fullblown attack of that mysterious recurring virus by 1) sleep. lots of sleep when the spirit moves me; 2) airborne and zinc. I don't care if it's the placebo effect at work; it's keeping me notsick; and 3) neti pot. Irrigate the nasal passages, I'm tellin' ya, even if you don't think there's anything up there.

This is the third time in a month I've gotten the first signs of that sore throat and congestion, and I hammer at it with the above and voila! It hasn't taken me down yet.

I hope you feel better.

I'm a fan of the fake it till it happens. But lately I have been feeling that it ain't happening like that and I need to try another approach.

I hope it happens for you! Frankly I believed it!

Thoughts make actual chemical changes in your body, so it's one of those self fufilling prophesies.
It's not really about faking it, it's about changing the thousands of negative thoughts we have each day and turning them into postive ones.
Then our body produces these magical little happy chemicals and volia... what we think is what we are.
and I am thinking that I rock.

I haven't had a cold all winter, until today!YUCK!
I can fake it pretty good too. I used to be very shy and quiet growing up. Now if I feel insecure, I just take a deep breath and ask myself "who really gives a rat's ass what others think about me anyways" and my confidence returns, and I act like the fool I am.

I've been pretty sick this year too. I either had a stomach flu or food poising, and that was the worst EVER! Hope you feel better.

I hear ya girlfriend! Fake it and in time you will believe it. Is that why I think I'm George Clooney's wife? Cause for so long I've faked myself into believing I am. Some say I'm delusional, but I'm going for confidence. lol

Happy "Belated" Birthday Gina...I'm sorry to be MIA, I just can't figure out the whole thing for commenting. I'm old and can't remember passwords and stuff! Forgive please! Hope it was great. Don't regret growing older, it is a privilege denied to many! I'm just sayin'.

Hey Gina. Happy Belated my friend. I've been off the blogging scene this week.

Can I tell you a secret. My first job in computers was totally a gamble, but it was a sweet opportunity for good money. I lied about my skills in the interview, hoping I could learn along the way, and I actually got the job.

That kind of confidence is either a well crafted illusion of plain stupidity, I'm not sure which. :)
