Trying Not to Let the Door Hit Me on My Way Out

So when I began to recover from the birth of Mr. Personality and the subsequent six months of CONSTANT SCREAMING due to his colic, I began to realize I was a bit lonely. The organization to which I will assign the pseudonym "Disorganized, Backstabbing Club of Mothers" was something I read about online and decided to find a chapter in my area.

I soon discovered that I had not much in common with any of the ladies who had children close in age to Mr. Personality, or maybe they just thought I was a stuck up or something. Many of them were very well off monetarily, but very unahppy, at least that is the impression I got from our conversations. I got to be friends with a few women, but the interest on both sides never extended to meeting outside of normal playgroups or scheduled events.

I was fine with it until this incident. Interestingly enough, I saw said woman at the grocery store not too long ago (it was inevitable since this town is just not all that big) and I immediately recognized "Libby." We were both in the cheese/yogurt aisle and she actually started to make a comment to me. The comment died on her lips as I looked at her, and then I merely looked away and continued shopping without looking back. It might have hit her a little bit later who exactly I was, since we had only met once. But then I hope she felt stupid. As well she should have. Sometimes I can hold a grudge. Like you haven't? And I don't want to hear any passive-aggressive crap, either. Thank you in advance.

Anyhoo, I get a call from the same darling lady the other day asking me if I paid my dues and when and what was the check number because they couldn't find it and "Dottie" told her that I had told "Dottie" that I wasn't going to rejoin and blah blah blah. At first, I thought, what a bunch of idiots. Since it wasn't yet time to renew, I confirmed my dues had been paid a long time ago and that the check had been cashed.

It wasn't until I got the phone call today from "Bitsy" about a dinner I had volunteered to make for another member who is going to have a C-section and needs some meals delivered that it all came to me. "Bitsy" wanted to know if I was still a member, since "Dottie" and "Libby" were thinking that I wasn't rejoining and for legal reasons I couldn't do the dinner if I wasn't a member, blah blah blah.

Well, I'll tell you that the dues were not to be paid until August, so I was apparently a bit slow on the uptake in that they were talking about now.

I'm going to make it easy for them.

No, I am no longer willing to be a member of group that the "Little Rascals" puts to shame as far as organization and professionalism. They even had a litle gavel to call everyone to order and stuff. Waaay better.

Just sayin'.

OMG, you have got to be kidding! I sure hope you are not that lonely any more. {hugs}. As far as I can tell you are not the clique type of girl. And the old saying applies...
Good ridance to bad rubbish (club)!

That same type of nonsense is going on with a few mom's groups that I know of. I tell you, when you get a bunch of women together, it spells disaster!(sometimes anyway)
