The View From Here

So this is a picture of what I can see when I stand at the sliding glass door of my bedroom.

This view is one of the reasons we bought this place. This is the first place I have ever lived where I didn't have other houses or buildings looming in my vision, rather than a sweeping vista.

Most people here in SoCal consider this a "poor man's view" as it does not contain even the slightest sliver of ocean. It is in fact facing the opposite direction of the ocean, thus giving us only city lights and mountains. But if you can see even a speck of ocean in your view, you can charge an extra twenty grand, easy. The more ocean, the more your house is worth.

Until we hit the lottery, this will have to do. Posted by Picasa

Oh... what a beautiful view. Ocean views are for vacation homes. Mountain views are for main homes. JMO.

We also bought our house as it is one of the few in town where the view out the front isn't other houses, but we view a golf course, LOL. Not nearly as nice as mountains and city lights. You should post a night picture as well. I bet is gorgeous at night...

How beautiful! Around my neck of the woods, it's unusual to have anything but a view of another house.

All natural vistas have their own beauty and charm, and it's hard to beat a view of mountains. You got a bargain.

Wow, that is awesome, Gina. I think it's kind of odd, how Californians are so obsessed with views of the ocean. Even if you only get a teeny tiny sliver of a view, people get all impressed. Weird. Personally, I like your view better.

Great view! This sure beats me, where I'm flanked by colonial homes on all sides. Although, thankfully, my neighbors across the street are great gardners, leaving me with a view of plants and trees for all seasons.

Pretty! I see a bunch of houses outside my window . . . a water view here would easily double the price of my house.

I love this view! Water is great, but mountains are oh so much better.

I feel compelled to add that there is even more view to the left, but it is a bit flatter and has not so many mountains in it.

We have both the San Gabriel Mountains to the left and the San Bernadino Mountain range to the right, for those looking for some geographical info.

Which I know you all just couldn't bear to live without.

I'm with Cuppa. Mountains all the way if I could pick what I wanted to look at. I think this view is stunning.
