Out of Breath...

Well, the surgery was yesterday and it went very well indeed. We got the first surgery of the day, hello pre-op at 6:30AM!  The whole pre-op thing went faster than the CT stuff, probably because they were able to put in her IV after she was under as they used gas anesthetic. It turned out to be a dermoid cyst, which is primarily congenital.  The vast majority of these are benign, and this one didn't have any signs to say that it might not be.  Although of course, they will send a specimen to biopsy just in case. The incision is about an inch, there are internal stitches that she can't really mess with, and Babygirl reports no pain.  So huzzah! I did read some stuff about children "regressing" in behavior after being anesthetized for a longer period of time, and I have to say that for her, it is somewhat true.  Although who knows the exact reason, it could be just stress, shock, pain, or any number of combinations of those things. Interestingly enough...

Breathing...

I want to start off by saying a big thank you to my medical professional bloggy buddy who wae so kind and even offered to find second opinions in my area, even though they are pretty much across the country! Marvel, I am so lucky to have you. Well, Tuesday morning dawned earlier than I wanted it to, as Babygirl decided to wake up fairly early at 6AM. Even though her bedtime is extremely scheduled and pretty much never varies, her wake up time is variable.  I had been hoping she would wake up later as she was not allowed to eat anything until after the CT scan, and I didn't want to fight a three year old who wouldn't be able to understand why Mommy couldn't give her breakfast. Turns out she was happy she wasn't going to school, and was agreeable to the not eating thing.  Actually, she only had about four ounces of ice water from the time she woke up to the time we left for the hospital, which was at 8:30AM. Babygirl, of course, had no idea of what was going to h...

Counting...

- Just three more days before Mr. P attends a weeklong "camp" with his gifted group.  Yeah, a camp that involves staying in a nice hotel and eating dinners at restaurants.  But yay for surfing classes! -50 is the number of the highly rated (and freaking expensive) SPF lotion that I bought for him, as he is very picky about sunscreen and how it feels on his skin.  However, getting a sunburn would completely ruin his entire trip, so in my mind if he uses it faithfully, it is well worth the investment. -Just five days until Babygirl gets her CT scan, which I am currently in negotiations with the radiologist/anesthesiologist to not open an IV line on her.  At least, not right off the bat, with an hour and a half to go before she actually goes under.  Why can't they do it after she is under?  Because I positively guarantee that she will attempt to rip that thing out. - I have found myself purchasing unforeseen amounts of Axe products for my son, who is cur...
