Music Monday

We are feeling the groove over here at Casa Gina, and we are a bunch of dancin' fools. Well, especially Mr. P, who is executing some interesting break-dance like moves. Where in the world did he get those from? To my knowledge, he has never seen any break-dancing. But hey, I'm gonna go with it.

Besides, I want my son to be able to dance, not just awkwardly sway to the music. His faather is a horrible dancer (although he tries, bless his heart) and I need him to take after me so he can be a hit with the ladies. So, practice makes perfect, no?

So again, I will take you back to the 80's, when KROQ was the only radio station playing stuff like this, at least at first. I'm trying to remember if other stations picked up this song after a while. Have I ever mentioned how KROQ shaped my formative years? Seriously, it did. And I have always thought this video was awesome, and it stands up pretty good after all this time. Except I've always wondered, what's up with the dog?

That's still one of my favorite songs from the early '80s--it reminds me of those kickin' dance parties the summer after high school graduation. Funny, I never thought of it as a rock song--I used to hear it on the funk stations.

Oh I love that song!
I admit that I had never seen the video before now. Thank you Gina for exposing me to that missing piece of the 80's!

This is one of those "high school" songs that surprised me how much of a shelf life it had. And I think it struck the right balance of "pop" and "weird." :-)

Hey, I listened to KROQ while I lived in LA. I loved that radio station. We have a great alternative rock station here in Vermont, no really, we do. WEQX.
