Friday Poll
Ok, so in my last post, I mentioned that I got some brand-new Converse for all of ten bucks, normally fifty. Yeeeaaahh!
And since Maternal Mirth asked so prettily, here is a picture. Oh yes, and I got them at Dillard's in Arizona, which is why I was lamenting the fact that there is no Dillard's here in SoCal.
The pink is a little off in this pic, but they are adorable and will go with many things in my closet. And hey, if you don't think they are adorable, then I don't want to hear it, ok? They were ten bucks, what do you want?
Anyhoo, what was your latest and greatest bargain? Or even your greatest bargain of all time?

I never get a good bargain. In fact I am quite renowned for this amongst my friends.

We have Dillards in my neck of the woods, when you move in next door, we can go together.
I am a bargain guru, and like most mothers have not shopped off the sales rack ( for myself) since my first child was born.
Years ago, we had a department store called Woolco, which was swallowed by Walmart in later years. Woolco used to have 15 minute specials, in which they would set up racks in a department and call a 15 minutes special . It would be a mad crazy dash where shoppers would flock to the spot, and have staff on hand mark items down to really low prices. They would do this randomly throughout the day until all the items were gone. Once when I was shopping there, I overheard staff talk about setting up the special (where and which racks) and formed a quick plan. I leisurely shopped, matched up, and sized a number of items for my daughter and then took my cart to the in store cafeteria had a coffee and waited for the call. About an hour later, they called out the special and I took my cart over to their secret location and while others pushed and grabbed I had the staff mark down all my pre selected items. Ended up getting about 400.00 of outfits for my daughter for less than 30.00. She was one well dressed toddler for the next two years.
My greatest bargains ... a $160 Express Design Studio jacket for $20. Also a Cynthia Rowley ORIGINAL (as on 1 and only) ball gown (worn by NATALIE MERCHANT!!!) for $100 at an auction. Turns out I was the only bidder and true 10,000 Maniacs fan ...
My last two bargains were on Autumn's dress and the flower girl dress for my wedding. Autumn's was originally $100 and it was 50% plus another 10% because it had a small pen mark. Then I found another dress for the flower girl, but it was $70...ended finding something just as cute at Target for $14.99.
The house and seven acres that comprise Pole Hill have to be our biggest bargain to date, though. Considering what land sells for in the area, we practically stole the place. When I'm ready to retire some rich bastard is going to give us triple what we paid for the property and build themselves a mansion on top of the hill.
My best bargain lately was my Christmas tree and ornaments. I bought them at K-Mart. I got a Martha Stewart pre-lit tree, boxes of beautiful ornaments, a tree skirt and wreath for....drum roll please...$28.09. Everything was 90% off after Christmas!
I just got a great but odd sweater vest thing at JJill for $9.99. I had been marked down several times, maybe because it's so odd. I love it.
