My Fairy Blog Mother

without a doubt, is Mel. (this subject via POW) And I thought it was so funny to see that, as I had been considering for a while about telling how she helped me to get started.

I first "met" Mel on an AOL toddler message board, as her Babygirl and my Mr. Personality are very close in age. Mel was outspoken, irreverent, smart, and funny. She was very much a regular on that particular board, and I was a newbie. I am not sure she liked me very much, as I tended to flout my liberal views quite loudly on what was a quite Republican/conservative dominated board.

She had a link to her blog on her posts, and one day, intrigued by the title (which was different than it is now) I clicked on and entered the blogosphere for the first time.

Her posts were real, laugh-out-loud funny, and thought provoking. At one point I think I emailed her to let her know I was reading her blog because I felt like a peeping Tom. I didn't know her that well, and here I was reading all these intimate things about her life. I am sure she thought I was a bit of a freak, I mean that is pretty much the point of blogs. But, as I said, I was new to this kind of thing and I think she has forgiven me for that by this time.

She decided at one point to leave the boards, and I emailed her a goodbye and a little blurb about how I had thought that if we had known each other a little longer, we would have been friends. From that email on, she is definitely someone whom I have considered a good friend.

I had always been a writer, I even liked it so much that I chose to earn my degree in the rather useless field of English Lit. But, you wrote a lot, and that is what I was good at. I looked at blogs and thought, hey, I might be able to do that. She encouraged me to start my blog. She was the first, (and for quite a while) the only person who would leave nice comments on my blog. For that support, I am forever grateful. Through her intercession, I have met many wonderful people.

Without a doubt, Mel pretty much single-handedly inspired me to unleash my ramblings onto the unsuspecting world. Please don't hate her for it, it wasn't really her fault. How could she possibly know?

Blogging makes me feel better, anyhow. But, thank you Mel, you rock. Now, if you haven't already, go read her blog, which is much much better than mine.

I really enjoy Mel's blog too. I love the picture of her being your Fairy Blog-mother. She has done a pretty good job of inpsiring you Cinderella. Maybe her magic wand got you started, but the glass slippers fit you perfecly now and you write your own magic as only you can. I for one enjoy a visit to your kingdom each day. So continue to slip into those glass slippers, kick up your heals and dance with that pen (or computer keygoard)!

I just love your blog and am so glad that I found it. I am sure that I’ll visit it often!! I thought you might like to know about our Fairy Art!! My husband and I make beautiful little Fairy Furniture, Houses and Characters from nature and now we are also working in film!! One of our movies is an instructional dvd on how to create our beautiful Fairy Furniture and the other film is called “The Enchanted Treehouse”. It is about a little girl who discovers a magical Fairy House in the forest and meets the charming and curious characters who live there. To see more about our movies, just go to my blog at: http://beautiful-art.blogspot.com or my Etsy store at: sunflowerhouse.etsy.com. They are really wonderful! Have Fun!
