I prefer novels set in the United States, in contemporary times, with a female protagonist. Other than the Big Names (LOTR, Narnia, Harry Potter), I haven't read much scifi/fantasy, but I definitely see their appeal.

I like your new About Me blurb, by the way!Suzannehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17358441701832129130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8464904.post-1129738104349702432005-10-19T09:08:00.000-07:002005-10-19T09:08:00.000-07:00I am currently re-reading the LOTR to Cuppa at nig...I am currently re-reading the LOTR to Cuppa at night -- five pages at a time. We're now getting close to Mordor.

I prefer the fantasy side of sci fi/fantasy, but I have pretty well given up. I have read Lewis, Eddings, Brook, Donaldson, Kay and others. I think Donaldson is a great writer, but I'm not too sure about his most recent foray back into Thomas Covenant.

There is a real tendency for fantasy writers to play with us, like Robert Jordan in his Wheel of Time series that is now in its eleventh volume. While the first few volumes were interesting, I gave up around volume 6!!Anvilcloudhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07974744042579564912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8464904.post-1129731471702826192005-10-19T07:17:00.000-07:002005-10-19T07:17:00.000-07:00Good for you Gina!!!Hi there. Yeah, I agree with Suzanne . . .who is your favorite author?? Any you could reccommend for a beginner to the genre?
Tracyblueyedtracyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16799856454040205288noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8464904.post-1129724609148663832005-10-19T05:23:00.000-07:002005-10-19T05:23:00.000-07:00You have, I hope, read Robin Hobb?
